Best Day on the Farm — Purple Goats Gardens
Immerse yourself in a day of playful farm fun in Austinburg, Ohio, where you can meet a cast of charming goats, forage for wild edibles and enjoy a variety of hands-on activities.

Count on Oscar to say hello first, before jumping on whatever he can find — wheelbarrow, stump, pickup bed. Corazon goes by Cora, or “rainbow unicorn hearts-on-her-butt” (cue the little-kid giggles). The Schuyler Sisters are inseparable twins. And the youngest goat, named Pip, is the most mischievous. There’s a growing cast of goats, flocks of chickens, and a whole lot of farmland to tour while foraging and tasting wood sorrel and ramps at Purple Goat Gardens in Austinburg, Ohio.
Farm Ed: Owners James Hood and Emy Topp expanded their programming to include camps and “preschool at the farm.” They also host pottery classes.
Have Goats Will Travel: Lease a (supervised) goat for “goatscaping” and watch the cloven-hooved creatures maul and munch on your property’s overgrown spaces.
Fall at the Farm: The annual festival, Oct. 18 to 19, checks all the cider, food truck, pumpkin, hayride boxes for all ages.
